We didn’t come to Stay (2024)

Planet Earth is undergoing climatological shifts in monstrous velocities, creating entirely new states of normality. Tropical storms, floods and scorching heat are no longer exceptional occurrences. The polar regions are especially affected by this global alteration. Landslides are occurring more frequently and will be observed even more regularly in the future.

On Svalbard, an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, the thawing of the permafrost, increased and more intense precipitation and shorter freezing phases are causing the ground to slither. All the rocks, the sand and the water are in motion. They have  set off on a journey.

‘We didn't come to Stay’ deals with this atmosphere of departure. Stones are portrayed as they pass through, piles of mud are surveyed about their condition and puddles speak about their experiences as the mountains themselves are setting off.
